I have to start with an apology - to readers and to this library: I didn’t have much time here and I was SO SORRY about that, because it was a really good library!
And I was really looking forward to this one, because The Husband used to work in Evanston Public Library, where they have many good things, including the falcon cam!
(NOTE: NOT in Wyoming - this is from the Illinois version of Evanston. If you check it out over the next few days you will still see baby peregrine falcons, getting ready to move into their next phase of life soon!)
Okay: back to Wyoming!
Speaking of library STEM projects - they were doing a cool project for kids (and their adults) to work on with electricity! There were other parts of this program that everyone was working with, and it was so awesome!!
Aaaahhhh….comfy chairs, end tables, magazines - wonderful! It gives you that nice comfortable feeling that you are home and happy and having a lovely time while you enjoy magazines, maybe with your new friends from the library.
Look at these desks, and that excellent wave pattern of desk inserts! When you are busy working on your important stuff, you want to have a little semblance of privacy and this kind of modular setting gives you that.
Look: quilts! I quilt (very slowly) and I’ve seen a ton of libraries with quilts and it is just the best thing to see! Libraries and quilts seem like things that go together. On my Lewis and Clark Trail library exploration, I was focusing on library history. Quilts are all about history, and there were so many across those libraries! The amount of labor that goes into making a quilt, even one of these smaller ones, is pretty enormous. Wonderful to see them!
Yep, this is a library of quilters! A table filled with quilting magazines, all arrayed in a very nice spread around the circular table!
And, they had books! I know I was all excited about their other cool things - but I didn’t want to miss talking about the books! Tons of them, and on these shelves that are such a good size. I like these, because it’s easy to reach all the books. I mean, I’m quite tall and I don’t have problems reaching up. But for everyone else, some of the library shelving units can be a little high. And with this size shelving, staff can see over the top of them. While most people who come to the library are awesome and wonderful and would never dream of causing problems, a few are…not that. So it’s good to have the opportunity to keep track of everyone’s progress.
Does your town have a twin somewhere else? If so, hopefully they are both as awesome as these two Evanstons! If you are in Wyoming, you need to stop in this town and visit all the great things they have to offer in this library!!
