This one started off tough: I couldn’t find the opening at first, and I ended up parking a block away and trudging back. I was a little lost, because I didn’t realize that there were several offices all in the same building - but what a nice convenience!
As I walked to the back of the building, I was a little surprised to see this sign. But I thought maybe it was community art. And then, a few feet later I realized I was walking past the service window of a coffee shop! The library has a coffee shop, and they are not only open inside the library, but they also have a drive through window! I’ve never seen that in a library! So excellent!!

Once I got the idea that there were several offices in the same building, it all made sense. And look - a nice sign for the public library! They were across the hallway from a children’s museum, and there is an arts program in the building. Love to see when cities makes things easy for a variety of needs.
And LOOK AT THIS! When I walked it I was so happy to see the latest book group selection: The Lincoln Highway, by Amor Towles! I think I’ve said this before, but this was not one of my favorite books. It’s fine though, and if you haven’t read it yet dive into it. And then if you want a truly wonderful book, IMHO at least, read his book A Gentleman in Moscow.
The shelves are so tidy and sorted! And I love that the bottom shelf is tipped up. For those of us who are little old ladies, and it’s harder as the years go by to get up and down off the floor, it’s convenient to have that shelf tipped for easier viewing. Make things easier for the patrons, and they will take books home with them!
And look at this display! So cute!!! I was chatting with staffers about the different displays we set up. I told them about one we have that I think is extremely cute that askes if you have RED the books, and everything has a red cover. (That’s not ours; I’ve seen it at a bunch of other places - but it’s cute!)
There were a LOT of great rooms and locations in this library, for all kinds of people to try things! But, they were filled with patrons so I didn’t want to take pictures. So, you and I aren’t seeing the rooms so much, but that’s excellent an excellent thing for the library to be so crowded on a beautiful summer day!!
And look what I found! I was browsing the shelves, not look for this at all, and found this book: Greetings from the Lincoln Highway America’s First Coast-to-Coast Road, by Brian Butko. (The link goes to a newer edition, at Drury Lane bookstore) There aren’t a ton of books about the Highway, not as many about Route 66, but there are several. If you haven’t heard of the Lincoln Highway, there are certainly fun things to read and enjoy!
So, maybe that’s the fun takeaway for today: read something fun! Maybe something in the travel genre, so you can have the fun of traveling without the hard and annoying parts! Or, if you are planning a trip this summer, read something set there - fiction or nonfiction. Just find a book to enjoy.
