I needed WiFi so I could download my podcasts and such, I needed to answer a bunch of emails, and I needed a place to be inside for a while. Obviously, I needed to be in a library!
So I stopped by the Lumpkin County Library and it was wonderful!
It’s probably kind of hard to see, but one of the participants in that excellent story time program happing in stone outside the front door is my travel buddy: Clarence. He’s a librarian bear, complete with a bag of books. (I won him in a silent auction at a Minnesota Library Association right after I moved here!) He’s sitting next to one of the kids, listening closely to the stories!
I did some business work, downloaded a bunch of things, and then was walking around looking at things. The library was just lovely, with lots of cheerful things all around, lots of space, and just a lovely space to be. I walked past a sign about a weekly adult coloring group, and I realized it was today and when I was sitting there.
I thought oh, that sounds fun, and I was going to walk on by. But then I remembered that I’m trying to say “yes” to more things. So I headed down the hall and hopped into the coloring group. It was nice!
While I was there, I got an email that told me I was picked to go to an ACRL program this summer. I’m so excited!!! And a few minutes later, my boss called me and told me I was officially hired! (I’ve had my job for four years; but it was a whole process to officially be hired as a real employee - and now it’s happened!) I was already enjoying myself at the library - but getting two pieces of great news really made it better!
Have you visited a library this week? Do it! Maybe you will also get some great news!! At the very least, you can try out a fun program and take home some books.
